The Arrival of SV KWAI
September 18, 2020 at 10:00 am SV KWAI, a vessel chartered by the RMI Government was scheduled to arrive in Majuro Atoll. This vessel is a powerful sailing ship, driven in part by the free energy of the wind, dependent only on nature and the resources she carries aboard is not only a work of art and beauty, she is a proven, economical vehicle of transportation where fuel is expensive and often scarce.
On this trip, the SV KWAI has 14 people on board. They complied with RMI Maritime SOPs and underwent a 7 day quarantine in Honolulu with testing prior to departure. They were again tested for Covid-19 in Majuro and results were negative. The arrival of this vessel poses a “low risk” status for Covid-19 as this vessel and its passengers traveled 14 days to Majuro Atoll and arrived today, Friday 18 September, day # 15. The vessel was released from quarantine on Monday, September 21, 2020.
The SV Kwai will join the RMI’s vessels as they respond to the growing demand of the Neighboring Islands especially in delivering RMI’s Covid-19 food baskets, as well as getting other much needed supplies in preparation for Covid-19. This is a GRMI charter for four months.
